even when mother nature says bow down, we americans still talk back

OK. I am not saying that New orleans and Mississippi or any place/person that got hit by the hurricane deserved it or should go to hell. What i am going to say is in regards to the mayor of a city in Mississippi ( i think) who stated that this disaster was 'Our Tsunami'. This pisseod me off instantly! Cant we let the people of SE asia have their way bigger, unexpected tragedy, or do we have to co-opt that as well! I mean, just comparing the two events: Tsunami - earthquake under water sends wall of water in huge directions and without warning kills what, 150,000 - 200,000 people? Now, hurricane katrina: was coming for about a week, new it was going to be huge for at least two days. If you we smart, you left or took precautions, if not, at least you were warned. Oh yeah, and how about in our great wisdom, we build entire cities under sea level along a stormy coast? Who do you think is worse off? And althought the numbers are no where near finalized, a whole lot less people will have parished (thankfully). Do you see my point? Call it what you will, but do not dare to compare the two.

Yes! That's exactly how I felt when the Towers fell and Bush started talking about bringing out the big guns. World Trade Center: 2,752. Iraqi occupation: Civillian count only: over 25,000

I heard a Today correspondent make the same comparison and my head went "That's not right" and kinda couldnt believe they would say that. sigh. American ethnocentrism all the way, baby. Cause its all about us.
